No it didn't get him. It's teeth would have hung for few seconds, if not longer, so that he had to pull it out. Which is usually what happens, the person bit has to pull the snake off. This is why if bitten when you pull it off, you kill it and then bring it with you to the hospital so they know what anti-venom to use.
