Toast them on the coals.

I've been camping in places where Ive caught small mullet with my throw net. They taste just fine laid on the coals and cooked until the skin is crisp then you just eat the outside and leave the bones intact.

Takes 5 or 6 to get a meal but it's quite good. Same for pilchards.

They are eaten by the indeginous people of the Amazon and a great many predators, including caimans and river dolphins which feast on the fish. They are considered quite a salty fish, that tastes very fishy, even a little ripe.

That tells me it tastes like shit so probably needs a lot of strong flavours to mask the salty ripe taste

Sardines and pilchards are quite 'fishy' but very nice.

Salted sardines/anchovies are a real treat. wash the salt off and fry them up. Very salty but tasty too.

I use them to make salad dressing, using loads of garlic, anchovies, pepper, hot English mustard, mustard seed and olive oil all fried up till garlic and fish are crisp then add vinegar. Perfect...

They are actually close kin to Blue Gil/Sun Perch and are damn good eating. Shit you not. Check this out....they are smart and attack weakness. You can actually swim in the water with them and swim right through them and they will not fuck with you.......except.....if you have a cut, or it's thst time of the month, or you have some kind of wound or obvious weakness (Parkinsons Disease) you are fucking shredded on seconds. If dude would have fell in the water, he would have overwhelmingly likely been fine and not attacked.
