Summary: Barangay Captain, beheaded by Abu Sayyaf One of the three hostages held captive by the rebel group Abu Sayyaf was beheaded at Sulu. The victim, identified as Rodolfo Bulagao, Barangay Captain of Aliguay Islan, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte. Bulagao's head was found around 9:45pm at Barangay Labah, municipality of Maimbung. Abu Sayyaf kidnapped the victim on May 4 together with two members of the Philippine Coast Guard named 2nd Class Gringo Villaruz and Seaman 1st Class Rod Pagaling. No certain reason was found leading to Bulagao's beheading, but this July, the rebel group threatened to kill their hostages if their requested ransom money is not granted by the government. This video went viral through social media when it was released by Abu Sayyaf. According to Navy Captain Roy Vincent Trinidad, chief of staff of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao and Joint Task Force Zambasulta, they are still negotiating with the rebel group to save the lives of Villaruz and Pagaling.
