Lowering the voting age across the UK means around 1.5 million 16 and 17-year-olds will be able to vote at the next general election.

In the U.S., you can drive alone, licensed and insured at 16, join the military with parental consent at 17, be a legal adult allowed to own property, enter into contracts and vote at 18, yet cannot drink or smoke until 21. Oh, and the age of consent for sexual activity is from 16-18 now when it used to be as low as 13 in some states, but there still exists Romeo and Juliet laws where they allow a four year age difference in consenting aged participants from 16, meaning a 16 year old can legally consent to sex with a 20 year old.
