A baby has died after she was found stabbed along with her father and a woman at a western Sydney unit block. The two-year-old girl died in hospital shortly before 10pm (AEDT) on Saturday, about two hours after she was discovered injured at the at the Canley Vale block, police say.
Officers were called to the property following reports of a domestic dispute at about 6.45pm (AEDT) and found a woman, believed to be in her 30s, in a stairwell with stab wounds to her stomach and shoulder. Soon afterwards, the man barricaded himself inside a unit with his daughter and refused to come out, police say. They forced entry at about 8pm.
The girl was wounded and her father, believed to be aged in his 40s, had been stabbed in the chest.
He was taken to Liverpool Hospital with the woman, and is believed to be in a serious condition.
The woman's condition is unknown.
The girl was admitted to the Children's Hospital at Westmead where she later died.
A crime scene has been set up and a Critical Incident Investigation Team was formed to investigate the incident.Police are interviewing witnesses and nearby residents.
