Most people who have to carry pets from one place to another might use their hands, a cage or even a picnic basket. Johna Turner allegedly tried to transport one of her pet Chihuahuas by shoving the puppy down her pants. Turner has been arrested on charges of animal cruelty.

The incident allegedly took place on Tuesday when police were called to her apartment in Longmont, Colo., on a report of a domestic dispute, the Denver Post reported. Officers at the scene reported that Turner was intoxicated, but she agreed to leave her apartment and return for her chihuahua mix and the dog's three puppies after she sobered up. But as Turner gathered items to leave, she insisted on taking a five-day old Chihuahua puppy, according to the police report.

At that point, a witness told police that Turner had stuffed one of the puppies down her pants when she walked out, KDVR-TV reported.

When Turner came back to get more items, the officers said they asked her to “take the puppy out of her pants," at which point, the suspect shook her leg, causing the puppy to roll out of the bottom of her right pant leg. Officials then asked the suspect to pick up the Chihuahua puppy so she would not step on it, TheDenverChannel.com reported. Turner allegedly complied by throwing the dog into a nearby stroller.

Turner was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty, and was booked at the Boulder County Jail, according to the Longmont Times-Call newspaper.

The mother, whose name is "Hita" and her three puppies were left in the night drop box at the Longmont Humane Society and workers there said they seem to be in good health.

The dogs will be put up for adoption as a family when they are eight weeks old, according to the Times-Call.
