An Chicago daycare worker faces charges after she was reportedly caught on video burning kids with a hot glue gun.
Lizandra Cosme, 32, was charged with aggravated battery to a child for using the device to hurt five toddlers enrolled at Children’s Learning Place, news station WBBM reported.
Police said that Cosme was seen on camera burning three girls and two boys, all of whom are 2 years old, in a Dec. 1 incident.
She was arrested Sunday afternoon at her Humboldt Park neighborhood home after a police investigation indicated that she “caused injury” to the students, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Another employee, whose identity was not released, also faces charges for not intervening during the alleged incident, WBBM reported.
The daycare said that both employees were fired as a result of the allegations.
“The well being of our students is paramount,” school spokeswoman Lissa Druss Christman said in an email to WBBM. “Upon learning of the alleged incident, we notified [Illinois Department of Children and Family Services] immediately and terminated two of our employees. We are currently working with investigators.”
