*Boko Haram is an ISIS-aligned jihadist group based in Nigeria. For years, Boko Haram has been conducting a lethal jihadist insurgency in the country’s north to drive out government forces and establish an Islamic state.
Feb. 2021, Marte, Borno State, Nigeria:
The Nigerian 402 Special Forces (SF) Task Force Brigade on patrol ran into an attempted ambush by Boko Haram fighters. The 402 SF were able to launch a successful counter-attack. In the end, 19 Boko Haram fighters were dead with no casualties for the 402 SF. Shortly before the ambush, the Army units had just finished clearing the road they were travelling on of two IED's.
