How is it with these eagles when there are too many young ones? Or do they have always only one or two eggs? I've seen a docu about birds of prey (can't remember the sort anymore) where the biggest of them rolled the eggs and the smaller sibling out of the nest to get all the food.

It's very, very rare that an eagle pair lay more than two eggs. It's also very rare that sibling rivalry results in an eaglets death. When that does happen it's usually because of one or both parents being new and still learning, a lack of food source or both.
There are a couple documented nests where 3 and even 4 eggs have been layed, hatched and fledged.

Oddly, though you wouldn't think it... birds of prey raise their young quite successfully.

Regular ol bids are the ones that tend to boot the weakest to the curb. And it's usually the parents, not the siblings that do it.

As for my nest, Harriet in all her years since the cams have been up, has never layed more than 2 eggs each season. She has layed them 2/3 days apart, yet is so good at incubating that they hatch within 24ish hours of one another. This too cuts down on sibling rilvary, plus the fact that food is NEVER an issue at this nest. She is an amazing hunter in her own right... however, lol... M15 is the bomb diggity when it comes to food. She's taught him well in the last 4 years.
Ozzie(her first love) bless his heart, was no slouch either.
