Check out Kevin Richardson. He works with both hyenas and lions in Africa. His videos on you tube are interesting.

He does a lot of hand on stuff with both species. when he meets the hyenas he always gives their clits or cocks a tug as this is the way they greet each other. somewhat weird but seems to work...
