Wonder whether or not he did kill the other 8 he's claiming to have.. perhaps after being slapped such a heavy sentence (well deserved though) he just wanted some notoriety, a small claim to infamy in return for the rest of his days.
Can't imagine he'd of been getting much sick fan mail or feeding fetish admirer's seeking a behind bars (or grill) wedding...
