I can see how this will go; a gang of diverse modern-day scientists (asian woman leader/gay black guy/non-binary latino thing/wheelchair-bound palestinian) will discover the thing buried between the corpses of Keith David and Kurt Russell. They'll dig it out of the ice, thaw it out and hey presto - it'll be a bit grumpy for a while and chase them around for a spell (maybe one character will be bloodlessly, mildly injured off screen) but before long they'll figure out that the thing is only acting out because she's (it's female now obviously) NEVER KNOWN LOVE, dammit, and she just wants a family of her own to belong to. By this time the spider-head will have reappeared and been turned into the thing's small CGI comedy sidekick, bumbling about between everyone's feet and giving an occasional Scooby-Doo-esque "rhu-rho" when he gets into amusing trouble. Our diverse scientists will then fly their new friends back home to New York, where the final scene will be a big song and dance number down 5th Avenue with the thing and Stalky the sidekick in which they sing about family, love and respecting differences, culminating in a big group hug where the thing spreads her loving tentacles around everyone. There you go JC, slap a PG-13 on it and you're good to go.
