These are likely anti-tank mines so they only go off if something very heavy rolls over them.

Not a mine expert but they're likely anti tank mines which have a several hundred pound switch required to set them off, that way they only go off when a vehicle rolls over them instead of someone just stepping on them. I can't imagine they're anything other than that considering how careless and fast these kids are doing this.
