NOGALES, Ariz. -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Nogales arrested a 76-year-old woman after she was caught carrying almost three pounds of cocaine strapped to her body.

The bust occurred Tuesday at a pedestrian gate as the woman from Mexico walked into the United States for a day of shopping.

The border patrol says an officer became suspicious.

A more thorough inspection resulted in the discovery of a package of cocaine strapped to the woman's leg. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $127,000.

The unnamed woman was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agents for further investigation.
