That is the what I thought immediately after hearing what part of their defense was gonna be. I think it was the BEST idea they could come up with to garner sympathy hopefully from the jury and in the press! I call's BULLSHIT on this one!

I agree about the greed but I'm not going to rule out the abuse because no one knows what goes on behind closed doors.
I do recall that family members did testify in court that the Father was a control freak,would be verbally abusive towards the boys and the Mother so yes...no one knows what goes on behind closed doors...BUT defense teams come up with some crafty things...remember this line:"If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit" .. lol

I'm not an expert or anything, but just judging by their "performance" on the stand, I honestly didn't find them believable. They just came across as arrogant, spoiled, self-entitled turds!
Shoulda bided their time and waited for the obesity and heart disease to kick in from all that fucking ice cream - they would be livin' large by now rather than getting gang raped in the prison showers.
