Missouri Cat Makes 5 Year,700 Mile Trip To Texas.
FT. WORTH, TX -- Some animal shelter workers are trying to figure out how a cat found in North Texas traveled from St. Louis. When Fort Worth Animal control picked up the fluffy white cat on Sunday they said he had no visible identification.

However, when animal control officers scanned him they found he had a microchip embedded under his skin and that his name is Hercules. Much to worker's surprise, the data revealed he was from the Open Door Animal Sanctuary located outside of St. Louis.

Tracie Quackenbush, of the Open Door Animal Sanctuary, said Hercules was adopted out to an elderly woman five years ago and he was soon reported missing. No one knows how Hercules managed to travel some 700 miles to the west side of Forth Worth, and what happened over the past five years apparently only the cat knows.

Hercules will be headed back to the Open Door Animal Sanctuary soon. Fort Worth Animal Control officers said at this point, even if someone locally tries to claim Hercules, he's headed back to St Louis due to the legal aspects of his microchip.
