Trial
During his trial, Moore told the jury the crimes were committed by a homosexual lover he nicknamed "Jason" after the killer in the Friday the 13th horror films. The jury found him guilty on all counts.
Imprisonment
During his time in Wakefield Prison Moore befriended Harold Shipman, the serial killer and former GP who hanged himself in January 2004. In June 2008, Moore was told by the High Court that he would spend the rest of his life in prison.However, on 3 March 2011 it was reported that Moore will be challenging the ruling in the European Court of Human Rights, with a view to having his sentence quashed and such sentences outlawed throughout Europe.

Keith Randles, 49, a traffic safety manager, was similarly killed as he slept in his caravan at road works on the A5 in Anglesey in November 1995.
Mr Randles had begged to know why he was being attacked after Moore dragged him from his caravan and started stabbing him. Moore had replied: "For fun." Moore later told police there was "a certain enjoyment" in the killing.
The last man to die was Tony Davies, 40, a married father of two. He was stabbed at a beach near Abergele on the north Wales coast in December 1995.
The former cinema manager from Rhyl, who attacked more than 50 other men in what the judge at his murder trial described as "20 years of terror", received four life sentences. The Home Secretary later recommended that he was never released.

A major security operation was in operation at a Welsh court for the appearance of serial killer Peter Moore.
Moore, serving four life sentences for murder, appeared in the dock flanked by five prison officers.
He is suing two people over the alleged disappearance of furnishings and other personal items from his home in Kinmel Bay, north Wales.
Moore was tagged the "gay serial killer" after killing four men in 1995, three of whom were homosexuals.
He chatted calmly with District Judge Charles Newman at Mold law courts before the case was adjourned to Leeds Crown Court - which will be closer to Wakefield Prison where he is imprisoned.
Dressed in a blue open-necked, short-sleeved blue shirt and jeans, he was handcuffed as he was brought up the stairs but then the handcuffs were taken off during the hearing, which lasted about 15 minutes.
Damages
The former north Wales cinema owner is claiming £50,000 damages for the items of furniture and other personal effects including cinema posters which he claimed had disappeared.
He is suing Lesley Bradshaw and Pauline Prydderch, neither of whom were present for the hearing.
The judge adjourned the hearing to Leeds in view of the "huge amount of public money" needed to get Moore to Mold.
"It is cheaper to move a judge than you," he said, and reserved the case to himself.
The judge warned Moore that he was unlikely to succeed with his current claim of £50,000 whatever the outcome of the hearing because he was claiming for the value of the goods as new rather than as second-hand items.

But a district judge - sitting behind closed doors at Leeds Combined Court - agreed the case should be struck out, on the grounds that Moore had no realistic chance of winning it at trial.
He appeared in court flanked by heavy security and did not have legal representation.
