"Okay pookie, do the honors." - Judge Elihu Smails
That's a great story and doesn't surprise me! Theodore Konopka was a consummate professional. Of course he was also in many things including the original Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho (1960) as one of the police officers guarding Norman Bates at the end. I remember him doing voices in many of the Filmation and Hanna-Barbera animated series including narrating Super Friends and also starring in the sitcoms Mary Tyler Moore and Too Close for Comfort as well. He was perfect as Judge Elihu Smails in Caddyshack (1980) opposite Rodney Dangerfield's Al Czervik!Good ‘ol Ted Knight. My brother wrote him one time back in the 70’s and he responded through his secretary with a typed letter and his actual signature.
