I think cremation is the most common thing in the UK. After death disposal, in my experience has only ever been fleeting discussions. I've been to quite a few funerals, maybe 30, but only one was a burial many years ago. I thought it was quite disturbing watching the coffin get lowered into that cold dark hole.

The costs of funerals, are through the roof. It's just affordable and cheaper for most.

Less people are religious now days. Cremation is simpler and less judged.

seriously though I get what you're saying OP, I think it becomes a bit of a status symbol for some fuckin reason as you get older. I've always said I want my corpse blown up with explosives and splattered all over a large crowd of people, ruining their entire lives
