It's an old saying in tornado country: if you can see a tornado you are too close! If you can hear one....you will meet your maker soon. ( I have lived in North Texas 15 years and Tulsa Oklahoma for 30 ...we know tornados and do our best to avoid them at all costs ). Tornados generally move SW to NE in direction. So if you see one to the SW you are in trouble! If it is north of you then the odds are more in your favor of surviving. But 1 in 5 tornados move backwards at some point in their meanderings! Do you really want to press your luck by "chasing" it just to get a good video? And how do you know that another funnel won't drop down out of the sky right where you are? Sometimes the same thunderstorm complex can produce multiple twisters at the same time! Don't be a dead hero. Just hunker down in your shelter and wait it out.
