SANTO DOMINGO.- A woman lost her life hours after falling dramatically from the steps of her residence, located on Héctor Romero Hernández Street, in Ensanche La Fe, in Santo Domingo.


The woman was identified as Paula Tapia, who was reportedly celebrating her birthday.

The tragedy has caused shock in the community, while authorities reported that they are investigating the circumstances of the crash.


While Paula was climbing the stairs, she can be seen holding an umbrella in her hand, because it was raining, which could have caused Tapia to slip and lose her balance, falling abruptly to the pavement.

The deceased's husband, known as "El Flaco", said that after the fall, his partner was
assisted by the 9-1-1 Emergency System, which urgently transferred her to the Salvador Bienvenido Gautier Hospital, where she received medical attention.

The woman died hours later, after the fall, which caused the complications that led to her death
