I mostly seen them as markers while over there they usually pile them like that to warn locals that there is an IED there. lines across roads, again to indicate a command pull somewhere I'm a goldie man (command line detector, basically a fancy services detector (or used to be). So i came across this type of marker quite frequently.

Saying that, I didn't see too many grave stones there either, so I guess you could also possibly be correct.

And BORE OFF ME!

Apparently, the Taliban made these beheaded ISIS head stone markers as a warning to other IS militants looking to travel the same road (which leads right into town) to get into the fight.

Now I’m guessing that their heads are landmarks. So if one needs directions to their house they would simply say,”head on down the road and make a right at the third head.Then head on down a little more can you see my house. And yes I am head of household”
