Walpurga Hausmannin (i cant think of older killer/cannibal than her)
Walpurga Hausmännin, (d.1587), was an Austrian midwife executed for witchcraft, vampirism and child murderer. The confession she made under torture exemplifies the classical relationship between witch and devil later commonly used in several witch trials.

She confessed to having murdered forty children during her work as a midwife before they were baptized, by the method of applying a special salve or of putting pressure on their foreheads, and to having sucked their blood like a vampire. She had killed children and animals with an oil. She had eaten the children with other witches and used their hair for sorcery.

After her husband's death, she and four collaborators were accused of torturing and killing hundreds of girls and young women, with one witness attributing to them over 600 victims, though the number for which she was convicted was 80. In 1610, she was imprisoned in the Csejte Castle, where she remained bricked in a set of rooms until her death four years later.áthory

Bloody Benders (the whole family, but note the real attraction was their Daughter Kate, thou they worked as a team)

The Bloody Benders were a family of serial killers who owned a small general store and inn in Labette County, Kansas from 1872 to 1873. The inn was a dingy place called the Wayside Inn. The family consisted of John Bender, his wife, son, and daughter Kate. They were apparently German; the older Benders spoke English with some difficulty. Kate was very attractive and outgoing, and thus became a large draw for the Benders' establishment. She proclaimed herself to be a healer and psychic who could cure sickness and contact the dead. In popular lore, Kate is said to have been the driving force behind the Bender family killings.

The Bender family home had a large room that was divided by a curtain. If a guest appeared to be wealthy, they would give him a seat of honor, with his back to the curtain. Kate would distract the guest, while John Bender or his son would come from behind the curtain and strike the guest on the skull with a hammer. The victim's throat was then cut to ensure his death. The body was moved behind the curtain and thrown through a trap door that led down into a cellar. Once in the cellar, the body would be stripped and later buried somewhere on the property, often in the orchard.

Deucalion;1083 said:
What exactly makes someone a serial killer rather than a mass murderer or spree killer?

Is there a certain time frame or body count?

A serial killer is a person who murders three or more people over a period of more than thirty days, with a "cooling off" period between each murder, and whose motivation for killing is largely based on psychological gratification. Often, a sexual element is involved with the killings. The murders may have been attempted or completed in a similar fashion and the victims may have had something in common; for example, occupation, race, appearance, sex, or age group.

Serial killers are not the same as mass murderers, who commit multiple murders at one time; nor are they spree killers, who commit murders in two or more locations with virtually no break in between.

Rhonda Belle Martin

Rhonda Bell Martin (1907 – October 11, 1957) was an American serial killer.

A 49-year-old waitress in Montgomery, Alabama, she confessed in March 1956 to poisoning her mother, two husbands, and three of her children. She denied killing two other children.

Her fifth husband, formerly her son-in-law, was poisoned like the others but survived only to be left a paraplegic. It was his illness that led authorities to look into the strange deaths surrounding Martin.

Although she never admitted this was the case, prosecutors said collecting insurance proceeds prompted her serial killing spree, although this is unlikely, since she only collected enough to cover burial costs.

She was convicted of murdering 51-year-old Claude Carroll Martin in 1951 by surreptitiously feeding him rat poison and was executed in Alabama's electric chair on October 11, 1957.

Jeanne Weber

After an appeal, she was convicted in 2004 of seven murders and three attempts. Her conviction is controversial in the media and amongst scientists, and has been questioned by investigative reporter Peter R. de Vries. In October 2008, the case was reopened by the Dutch supreme court, as new facts had been uncovered that completely undermined the previous verdicts. De Berk was set free, and her case was re-tried; she was exonerated in April 2010.

Genene Jones

Genene Anne Jones (born July 13, 1950) is a former pediatric nurse who killed somewhere between 11 and 46 infants and children in her care. She used injections of heparin and later succinylcholine to induce medical crises in her patients, with the intention of reviving them afterward in order to receive praise and attention. Many children however, did not survive the initial attack and could not be revived. The exact number of murders remain unknown, as hospital officials destroyed records of her activities to prevent further litigation after Jones' first conviction.

hah too much overrated male serial killers.bundy, jack the ripper . now the female ones.. the soft.. delicate, lovely women they were the real deal.. come on..check out , Jane Toppan ,Aileen , and Gunnes.. now they were fucked up, they killed men

Jane Toppan is my fav serial killer... female.. rare breed.. as fucked up as the male ones..killed for lust, cared about her own kill count, pretty much proud about it.. 31 damn

since the fact that they were women. no physical strength like men, they used poison (except for Aileen and Belle Gunnes)

"She is quoted as saying that her ambition was "to have killed more people — helpless people — than any other man or woman who ever lived..."

It is not known whether any sexual activity went on when her victims were in this stage but when Jane Toppan was asked after her arrest, she answered that she derived a sexual thrill from patients being near death, coming back to life and then dying again. Toppan would administer a drug mixture to patients she chose as her victims, lie in bed with them and hold them close to her body as they died."
