Trump says he has commuted sentence of former US Rep. George Santos in fraud case

President Donald Trump said Friday he had commuted the sentence of former U.S. Rep. George Santos, who is serving more than seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty to fraud and identity theft charges.

The New York Republican was sentenced in April after admitting last year to deceiving donors and stealing the identities of 11 people — including his own family members — to make donations to his campaign.

“I just signed a Commutation, releasing George Santos from prison, IMMEDIATELY,” Trump posted on his social media platform.

Steven Avery deserves to get out. That man was railroaded twice. He's in jail because his nephew is a simpleton.

like, how any educated person not be sick to their stomach. We are taught that no one is above the law. And then the president puts two supreme court justices in place and they vote that the president is above the law. Now the president can pardon criminals? Like what the fuck happened to this country?

You’re an idiot. Every president in the history of the US has commuted, pardoned, or expunged sentences for some reason or another. All the way back to Washington.

Has nothing to do with Trump, nothing to do with sitting SC justices.

yea, I didn't mean to say "now". But everything else I said I believe. Trump did place two justices in power. There was a supreme court decision lately about presidential power, very controversial, that barely passed. And every educated person probably mostly agrees with me that presidents should not have the power to pardon criminals, we should amend the constitution as no one is supposed to be above the law. We are all supposed to be equal under the law. It's literally the words written in front of the Supreme Court. Also, there should be separation of powers. The executive branch should not be allowed to over reach and reject the Judicial branch's decision to send a criminal to prison. The legislature passed a law. A person broke the law. The judicial branch prosecuted that person. The executive branch should not have that power.
