fuck this trash, this is useless on my monitor, why do I want to mouse over giant colorful fucking squares so I can open a file, or care less about swiping features designed for some tablet PC microsoft will shit out with the OS.

Why does he keep saying apps for everything? an IDE/php editor is not a fucking app and my PC is not a phone.
"hundreds of millions of pc's using this platform" and it shows him doing finger swipes on a menu that's gonna suck balls with a mouse. Will win 8 support a windows 7 type GUI? if yes, more bloat. And I thought vista was bad. Fucking tards need to stop hiring designers not quite good enough to be employed by apple.

Actually considering the fail that vista was for business environments there would have to be a version 8 with the plain old GUI and none of this iphone looking crap. Unless that is, microshit are happy with XP still running things while IT guys contemplate windows 7 still.

By the way, there are some retards on the Internets who think this is really just a tablet PC OS intended to compete with Apple. It's called "Windows 8" (no further appellation) for a reason, though:

Microsoft's Corporate Blag said:
And this isn’t just about touch PCs. The new Windows experience will ultimately be powered by application and device developers around the world — one experience across a tremendous variety of PCs. The user interface and new apps will work with or without a keyboard and mouse on a broad range of screen sizes and pixel densities, from small slates to laptops, desktops, all-in-ones, and even classroom-sized displays. Hundreds of millions of PCs will run the new Windows 8 user interface. This breadth of hardware choice is unique to Windows and central to how we see Windows evolving.
In other words, yep, this is the next official, flagship version of Windows we're looking at here. But Hell, I've only very recently switched to Windows 7, myself. It's got a good 6-8 years of serviceable life left, so I'm not too worried.

And yes, of course, everything these days is about apps, appy-apps, app app apps, appity app app. It's as though the technologically near-illiterate trendsters who get sexually aroused by flashy GUIs and bloatware don't realize that the word "application" and its foreshortened slang have been in computer lingo since at least the 1970s. It's also an utterly generic word that really means very little other than "a computer program that does something." The non-computing usage of the term is similarly vague and generic.

I hate everyone anyway, so this sort of thing is right up my alley.

He keeps saying app because the damn thing looks like the Windows phone more than a computer...
Its designed for touch screen but most people wont beable to afford a touch screen monitor (or like one for that matter) for a good whole now....
If this is the new windows...I'll be doing like I did with Vista and wait for a better version to come out before I think about switching over...

you can grab a touch screen monitor pretty cheap now. But agreed, that does look shit, but i think its going to work a bit like the Media centre application in 7 ultimate, and be a choice rather than being forced on you. So, added bloat basically.

For anyone who does serious work on a PC, besides masturbate and buy shit on ebay, this is completely useless. I can't design or edit with my finger, and having keyboard shorcuts and shit for slider menus and general OS navigation is a horrible idea. Here's hoping for the plain jane version.

Are you aware how "general " your cam timing is from the factory on yur bandit ? And if you upgrade to another cdi the benifits you would get in fuel economy and fuel ? How about your carb settings ? Jets n' needles ? How far does your front end dip when you pull on the brakes ( have you done a practised emergancy stop yet ? ) Is your back end hoppin' under heavy brakes ? Have you adjusted the rear suspension to suit your weight, ridin' style and the roads you use the bike for ?

oooooohhhhh 'ang on there's a Windows 8 ?!?!?! shit I missed 7 sorry.....................

Yes I could grab one pretty cheap, but just a few months ago I paid a nice price for my new 42" "monitor" (very nice TV converted :p)...why the fuck would I dummy it down to a max size of 17" ?
Most people don't use touch screens even when they do have them. I worked with one for about a month, sorta nice and handy but Windows 7 didn't exactly utilize it to it's fullest (could have been the touch-screen company too, either way...). The average person will barely use any of these features and I really hope it's just a program that allows you to do that and it isn't the GUI.

Like i said, bloat. But a decent graphics tablet cant be sniffed at for image work (not the same thing obv) and you could make use of a touch interface for that. Like 3D i see multi-touch display interfaces for PC being an overused gimmick that ultimately dies off. For small consumer slates and tablet pc's, it might be here longer.
Like i said though, its likely to be an overlayed application like media center is now.

:tu:

Windows 8 may take a hard left turn down a cliff with a complete UI redesign that will dumb down the interface but make it more practical for tablets and phones.
From what I've heard, this new approach, which mimics the iPhone and Android OS GUI as well as the Phone 7 GUI, will essentially kill desktop computing once and for all—at least, for Microsoft.

The description was an eye-roller and then a shocker, as the demo of this turkey turned up with a pop-up on-screen keyboard, which is the way the keyboard crops up with a phone or tablet. I'm not sure what Microsoft is thinking, but a typical desktop computer actually has a real keyboard. You know, Microsoft even makes such a device. I'm using one now.

The personal computing dominant metaphor is that of a "desktop." This means folders and obvious navigation help. A mouse, a real keyboard, and windowing software are all part of an evolved package. This model of computing has pretty much evolved to its end-point, in much the same way that home appliances and automobiles have evolved.

Today's car, for example, drives nearly the same way as a car from the 1930s. The early years of experimentation have been over for decades, and now a car is pretty much the same no matter what model. Attempts to have push button transmissions and joystick steering wheels have come and gone. Everything that's happened since the 1930s is only a tweak.

This is the same for computers. If people think that putting an iPad/iPhone interface, designed specifically for touch use on a small screen, is appropriate for normal, big-screen, mouse-centric desktop computing, they are putting Microsoft in grave risk.

Sometimes I wonder whether some Microsoft execs even use a computer.

That said, the idea is so nutty and off-the-wall that I can assure you this will never happen without a fall back to the Windows 7 GUI. There is just no way that the company will risk its future on an unproven interface metaphor that's based on a cell phone UI.

Thus, I am not seriously worried about this. I'm more worried that the idea is even taken seriously by the executives. This is one of the reasons investors have little confidence in Microsoft.

I can understand why this idea came up in the first place. It's because Microsoft has turned out to be a laggard in both phones and tablet computing, despite being early in both games. It just never got any traction whatsoever. One of the reasons for this is that Microsoft could never bring itself into any form of thinking that was not "Windows everywhere." This meant that its early attempts at making smartphones had to look and act like Windows. All the pad events were just Windows on a pad. Whatever Microsoft created had to reflect what was on the desktop machine, no matter how impractical.

So instead of throwing away this rigid thinking, it decided to stay with the cross-platform consistency, and rather than use the rich Windows 7 GUI on everything, it decided to take a GUI optimized for a phone and touch-tablet and bring it to the desktop. This is just backward thinking.

The basic thesis that people want exactly the same look and feel across all their personal platforms is frankly idiotic. But Microsoft is a subscriber. In this instance, all the company will manage to do is kill the platform where this UI does not belong: the desktop workstation. And that would be the end of Microsoft.

Until my ISP got bought out and they upgraded all the servers, they had a server on there that had a backdoor for FTP site where one of the IT guys were hosting a private pirate site lol. Lasted for 6 years with over 5TB of downloads on there (most programs and a few movies).

In the 21st century, everyone's either gone full retard, or they're rapidly working their way to that point.

Silly but fun old TV shows like Roseanne, Married With Children, Star Trek, Fresh Prince, and Family Matters have been replaced with unwatchable reality shows (Survivor, Next Top Model), fishing/trucking/pawn shop/picking shows, horrendous Law and Order clones, and other bullshit. This is in the US, mind. British shows from the fucking 1970s and 1980s (Black Adder, Poirot, Mr. Bean, etc.) are better than that trash. Actually, the shows I just named are awesome, period.

Movies are pretty similar. There are still good movies released on a regular basis (Hobo With A Shotgun, anyone?), but awesome classics that blow your mind? Far less frequent than in the 1980s and 1990s, in my opinion. Instead we get remakes, Jewfag revenge flicks, furry porn (Avatar), and four hundred billion Pixar/Disney cartoon fuckeries.

Computer gaming in the late 1980s, 1990s, and very early 2000s? Pretty fucking sweet. It's gone way downhill since then. Not going into too much detail on that note, 'cause it doesn't matter.

The Internet? We're in the Web 2.0 era, need I say more? The mysterious warren of wild and crazy Web sites back then was pretty fucking cool to explore. Now it's Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and vBulletin. That's actually what happens when you let women into a world previously belonging to geeks. Moms and bitches bring in the scratch; every TV exec knows this, and so do dot-com entrepreneurs.

One good thing about the 21st century: Holy fucking crap, people in general dressed like dipshits in the 1990s. The fashion was just totally embarrassing. I've definitely seen an improvement in that area.
