GØREWHØRE

Lurker
Gonna be real, my grandmother killed herself in August 2020. Left the house spotless, made sure to turn off the AC, wrote her last message identifying herself and next of kin on big pieces of cardboard at the foot of her bed. She was in a hot trailer rotting in the desert heat for 3 days before she was found. I was still a teenager and for some reason never being able to see her after she passed deeply bothered me and still does - I don't know why, I know it would be gruesome and traumatizing to see someone I loved and grew up with in such a state, but it's always made complete closure about what she did unobtainable. One day she was there and the next she wasn't. I helped my mom (my grandmother's only child) clean out her house.

I finally started seeking out gore to see what it would've looked like, to try and move on. I never saw her body after she OD'd and laid in the heat for days, but I wanted a frame of reference. Then it became sort of a coping mechanism for the grief, and then it became a coping mechanism for the various ways I got fucked up over the years, then it became a habit, then a hobby.

It's weirdly comforting now, seeing people dying and after death. We're all just fragile sacks of blood and meat. I can check out on my own terms like my grandmother did or be forcibly evicted from all this at any time, but one day it'll happen, so I might as well make the most of it while I can, I guess.

(I know that's sappy as hell but I'm high in a hotel in a town a kajillion miles from home, so I guess I'm feeling sentimental, lmfao.)

I grew up watching horror movies, slasher films, I watched someone kill themselves before. So I started seeking it out online. Found bestgore. Rotten. Some other sites. It just became a dirty secret of mine. Only the people close to me know I'm into twisted shit. They just don't know how deep it runs.

come undone
1. Growing up Catholic: we are bombarded with images of Christ bleeding profusely and the awful ways in which the Apostles/Saints/Martyrs were killed
2. Growing up in an East Coast American city (Philly) with it’s own Mobsters killing each other…case in point: Angelo Bruno sitting dead in his car with a brand new hole in his head splashed all over the Philly newspapers…I know there’s a pic of him on here but I can’t be assed to look for it
3. My interest in all things medical, I became a wound care expert in my field of physical therapy
4. After my dad died, I got dark…well, more dark than usual, and I got into looking at gore, death, and even Post Mortem photography because after seeing my own dad dead, I wanted to see how far I could shock myself

Im not so much into every gore pic because they all begin to look the same, but I look for the real interesting things…I like the medical stuff, accidennts, miscellaneous stuff, vintage stuff And some war stuff…especially Muzzies getting fucked up.

You've got to laugh
Dad was a real early adopter of the Internet, always up on the latest tech. He'd scrounge for neat shit to torrent - movies, games, porn, whatever - and I'd get the trickle down. So one day he calls me into his study and he sets me down and talks to me all about how fucked up the world is, how people are animals that'd tear me apart for the fun of it, and then he shows me the Dagestan beheading video. This was about '00 or '01 I think.

Didn't have the heart to tell him I'd already been visiting pages like Rotten for a couple years, since I often broke into his study when he wasn't around and I'd snoop through his favorites. Still, I internalized the lesson he was trying to teach me.
Was probs similar age,was curious my big bro had just hit afghan, have to know who my brother was scrapping with was early 00s

For Some Reason, and frankly I'm not even that keen of finding out Why, its enough that it Does- But it helps me Focus and put all the very Real things I have done and seen in a place where I can deal with them. I'm a Vet, I was an Infantry Medic, and then became a ER Trauma Nurse for many years after that. I started watching some of this stuff in the late 90s early 2000s, back when Ogrish and Rotten.Com were a thing, long ago. It helps. Sometimes, at least. We're complicated, us Humans, and yet very simple, too.
