First Of Japan Tsunami Debris Washing Up On Our Shores

Wonder if any of it is radioactive? I'd go crazy trying to figure out who this stuff belonged to, what they were doing when the tsunami hit, etc. Wonder if anyone will find a big safe full of fuckin gold?

According to the Canadian Broadcast Corporation, an ATV-riding beachcomber has discovered the first confirmed piece of Japan tsunami debris to wash up on Canadian shores, and it's quite a doozy.

Below tideline on an isolated beach on Graham Island, part of British Columbia's Haida Gwaii archipelago, Peter Mark spotted a large, white box, like the back part of a moving truck. The door was ripped open, he said, and inside was a fully intact, but rather rusty Harley-Davidson motorcycle, plus a few golf clubs and assorted camping gear.

"You just never know what you're going to stumble upon when you go for a drive, and lo and behold you just come across something that's out of this world," he said. "First I thought, this has got to be the craziest thing anyone has ever found," but then a bit of sober shock settled in when he started realizing the box likely came from the disaster that struck Japan last year.

The motorcycle's license plate was issued by Japan's Miyagi Prefecture, which was devastated by the tsunami, and Japanese authorities are trying to locate the owner.

Mark left the box where he found it and urged others to take care if they make a similar find.
"These are parts of people's lives. Some people lost everything in the disaster, and I think people have to keep that in mind when they make a find like this," he said.

Finder's Keeper's man!! That is MOST awesome!!!:woo:

Actually, I'd be more inclined to find out who it belonged to. What their story is. If they survived. What they were doing at the time of the quake & tsunami. What their life was like before it, and how it has changed since. And then, if the person is still indeed alive, I'd be more than happy to return whatever I found to them, if they want it. I'd even PAY the transportation fee, even on something as big as a motorcycle.

For what those people went through, those honorable people I may add, it would be the least I could do.
