James Chadwell II in custody.
Authorities in Indiana are taking a look at the suspect in an alleged kidnapping to see if there “might” be a connection between him and the unsolved murders of two girls in 2017.

Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby told ABC News on Wednesday that his department is “looking into” James Chadwell II, who was arrested last week on suspicion of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl.

Police found the girl chained inside Mr Chadwell’s basement, as she claimed that he choked and assaulted her, before committing sexual assault, according to court documents.

Mr Chadwell has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder, child molestation, kidnapping and strangulation. He is due in court again on 10 June.

The alleged kidnapping took place just 20 miles away from Delphi, Indiana, where 13-year-old Abigail Williams and 14-year-old Liberty German were murdered back in 2017.

The two girls went missing on 13 February 2017 after hiking in Delphi, and were found dead a few days later near to the trail.

Their murders are as of yet unsolved. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named in connection to their deaths.

The authorities have not publicly disclosed a majority of the details surrounding their deaths or information about the crime scene.

Although Mr Leazenby declined to go into further detail about the probe to ABC News on Wednesday, he revealed that there are “several factors” behind the department looking into Mr Leazenby.

He added to WRTV: “The information has obviously been shared with us and our investigators are looking into him.”

The sheriff also urged the public to not jump to conclusions about the probe into Mr Chadwell, including any perceived similarities between his mugshot and the artist sketch of Abigail and Liberty’s killer.

“Someone looks like somebody, that obviously does not mean that is the person,” Mr Leazenby said, as he confirmed there is not yet any formal connection between the two cases.

Mr Chadwell is also not the first kidnapping suspect to be investigated in connection to the murders, but so far no one has been arrested in the case.

The Independent has contacted the Carroll County Sheriff Department for comment.

I really think there's a high probability that it's him. Not only is he a creep and a predator...but that sketch is almost a perfect match. Oh, and his tattoo looks just like one of the victims...The empty eyes with blood running down? Maybe it signifies something like 'I killed her, and her soul is mine, now' or some fucked-up shit like that.

Also, I wonder if the cops could find out where he got that tattoo..They could find out what kind of reference photo he gave to the tattoo artist, and what he said about it, like, that's my daughter, etc etc.

Yeah, that’s so fucked up in so many ways
The tattoo is a trophy to remember the crime.
He needs death and hopefully somebody cuts that tattoo out of his arm.

It has to be! There's just too many coincidences here. Back in 2017, he lived roughly 30 miles from Delphi as well. The nine-year old girl he lured into his home before locking her up in the basement is unbelievably lucky to be alive.

To say that the kidnapped child was extremely lucky to be rescued alive only an hour after she was officially reported missing is an understatement.

As the degenerate was violating the victim, police knocked on fuckwads door, prompting him to quickly dress and answer his door without time to dispatch of the child or any evidence.
Surprisingly, the kidnapper admitted to police that the girl had stopped by his house but had left.
This prompted surprisingly good detective work, with them strongly requesting to search the home immediately.
The child was found in a chained up basement room.

Considering the close proximity of the two towns (Delphi has less than 3,000 people while Lafayette is a city), the kidnapping was only 20 miles from where the 2017 murders happened; the targeted age of the girls; the close resemblance of police suspect sketches... There is a good chance a serial child rapist and murderer was literally caught in the act.

Wait is it talking about the train track girls?

Wait is it talking about the train track girls?

Yes the Delphi murders are the young women who were last known to have crossed a train trestle, and took a short video of a man that was following them on the trail track. It is a famous unsolved case.

More news has come out about this guy, namely that his family spoke out and said he's pure evil. So instead of saying 'not my baby' they're saying 'fuck this guy'. The family is also saying that he tried to drown his 4 year old brother when they were kids. I'm so sure this is the guy that if it's not, I'll change my name to 'FatSmellyNegroid'

i hope he did do it. this way,the piece of shit is in custody.
Exactly, and even if he didn't do the Delphi killings, it is extremely unlikely he'll ever be released, thank fuck
