I think a suit of armour would crush too easy suffocating you or cutting off blood supply to your limbs. I think it will be a bad thing. You should Google bear suit to get an idea of how big and strong it needs to be to protect you.
It does sound like fun! Hunting in a very old school caveman way! I've always wanted to eat roast bear after seeing the kilchers do it in Alaska. So if you do it, let me know if it was tasty. It looked like dark roast beef when I saw it.

Don't go hunting without a 454 Casull, 44 Magnum or a 500 Magnum revolver or if an assault rifle was carried then a caliber of 308 or 7.62 is recommended
A bear tears off half of your head in one strike and then if the bear hungry you will be eaten
The bear runs faster than a human in short distance, can climb on trees,and its thick hooked nails are about 15 cm long
It would be very foolish to hunt a bear with a sword or go near it at all unless you want to commit suicide

• If a bear is taken, the bear tag must be validated by a CDFW employee before transporting the bear, except for the purpose of taking it to the nearest CDFW employee authorized to validate the bear tag. If CDFW offices are closed, the bear tag shall be validated within one business day of transporting the bear from the point where taken. The skull must be presented to CDFW within 10 days ( see tag validation details)
• Bear tags must be returned, regardless of success
