Two drivers involved in a crash on the Baltimore Beltway that killed six highway workers Wednesday afternoon were traveling at a high rate of speed when one car moved into left-most lane, hit the other vehicle, lost control and flipped into a construction zone.

this scares the shit out of me every time im working on the road.
there was an incident (of a few) where it was a shitty day. rain/drizzle off and on all morning. we were doing an abutment for a bridge,in the center median. anyway, that day because of the weather,we just stayed in the yard and got panels made up and other things done for the job. a few hours go by and the job super comes out and tells us that a tractor trailer was stolen and was being chased by the cops. the trailer lost control and went straight thru our work area. we all would have been dead. the trailer destroyed a roller (for smoothing out black top) a rebar bending machine, a tow behind compressor, and a welding machine/generator and 2 light towers. plus materials and our work benches were mangled.
ive encountered drunks during the day,as well as during over night.
theres speed limit signs posted in work zones for a reason people! abide by them. because some day someone you know can be killed by some asshole driver. or someone you know who knows someone. we have a job to do too. and if your running late for work or meet n greet, not our problem! but dont make it our problem. and stay off your fucking god damned phone...

yes. dumb fucks is an understatement. now what the state is doing is an "experimental" thing. they are putting cameras in work zones. and you speed thru, you will be mailed a ticket. and add like 3 points against your license.
though it wont deter people from speeding thru that work zone till they receive that ticket. the only thing that'll work is police presence really. not till people start getting the hint!
