Military service, and your thoughts on why you served your country!

Excellent brother. I was stationed in gutersloh Germany. I loved it there, best time ever. My cousin was stationed Paderborn. He was 1st working dogs regiment....a dog handler for IED searching off lead. His Mrs was also the same but on line searching.....

Where about were you stationed?
I was stationed in Hanau, GE at Underwood Kaserne. Those were the days. I miss the good German beer and Oktoberfest this time of year. I'm not familiar with Gutersloh or Paderborn...I'll look them up. I spent a lot of time traveling all over Germany for training and qualifications. I'm familiar with Baumholder and Kaiserslautern (K-Town, as we called it) and, of course the posts near by.

FYI any asshole who’s in the military after Vietnam aren’t real veterans. Ya had it easy compared to the Vietnam war vets. If you weren’t forced to go to war your a PUSSY

Cool.... I wanted to learn more but the Air Defense part was in the National Guard after my Active duty time. The Avenger was super easy to operate a bit of pain in the ass to reload. Seems once they get you trained they don't care if you want to be more proficient or learn the ins and outs. I am a big tech nerd when it comes to military equipment and the like even dream of ideas for weapon systems but I fucked up and never found the right place to be to pursue that love interest.
I feel you brother. I was cross-trained, as I mentioned but we had no equipment at my unit to stay proficient. All we had were the shoulder fired dummies and repeatedly trained on it almost daily. The Avenger was much more sophisticated and required a much more learning curve. After I left, the unit disbanded and the 16S/14S were removed from PATRIOT units all together. Really didn't make much sense anyway, having SHORAD batteries with PATRIOT battalions. Anyway, wanted to say I enjoy your posts. I find them very informative on what goes on in this crazy world. I stay away from social media, usually filled with a bunch of shit.

So as most know I have served my country in the Army, And I often get asked why did you join. Which requires a usual in-depth response that I typically can't be fucked talking about.

I've always been a fighter in my youth, always getting into trouble. Especially after I lost my first child.... Off the rails for years. My upbringing was always drilled into me, serve your country, do not have your country serve you!

I have a long line of family that have served in many wars. From great-great-grandfather, grandfather, missed a generation, uncles, cousins and myself have all served.

The saying always stuck with me, serve your country! In my mind there is no greater honour than serving your country, (regardless of the situations you get thrust into) I don;t want to go into the politicking regarding "shouldn't be there" “government pawn” all that jazzz hands bullshit, said by 140lb soaking wet shitcunts. Who would shit their pants if they had to do anything hard, the same ppl probably drink oat milk skinny mocha choca lattes with rainbow fgt sprinkles on them. Nobody wants to hear your inane shit pipe flapping.

Do you or your family have any history in the services?
Do you mind sharing?

So here is a picture of my grandfather, in 1942, and also in 1947 in Palestine war, (cracking jews heads) this was when Israel was founded, there about.

He was my role model until he died again around the same time i lost my 6-month-old son.......it was a month later he passed. Now i have detractors and some may even call me a cunt, Well deserved, I own it. But what i was good at was fighting and being a solider. I apparently craved discipline and routine, i still do to this day. The Army provided it and made me a better human (some may disagree, but some don't know me) 1 person here truly knows me......

My grandfather after the Army joined the police and finished chief constable, then onto mountain rescue until he could no longer keep up......He did bag pipe for Royalty at Glamis castle after all that.........He was a very talented musician, right up until months before he passed away.......

A thing that always sticks in my mind.........to paraphrase George Orwell......We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm!

What service does your family give for your country? I'd love to hear. I love history and i love the interactions people have with others and their stories.
My wife was last out of Afghanistan with the A-10s. Bitter sweet

Um did you serve?
If you weren’t in the Vietnam war, you’re a pussy sounds like AI or a child’s response

i think it should be mandatory here in the states, once you graduate high school or college. mainly after high school.
now i hear that those who are trans, have a "free pass" from filling out the civil service card for the draft. if there ever is one. which is bullshit, imo. no one should be exempt from military service.

National service should be mandatory.

But after being witness to the snowflakes that are around today. I'd for sure not want to be around one with an automatic rifle.

Nah......glad I'm done.

imagine some of these kids you see on social media being in the service? for starters, like that fucktard vegan who was crying, because apple wouldnt do anything about their meat emojis they have in their phones. he wanted them removed.

Service was mandatory until 2011 here, or an adequate social service. Means, the ones who couldn't stand holding a weapon could work in a hospital, rest home, etc. The facilities did rely on this pool of cheap employees for decades; now they miss them.
The most of my buds who did this mandatory military service have good memories of it; two take the opportunity and prolonged and were professionals later. Served in Yugoland.
Now the government is debating to re-introduce the service again.
If they do, they should do it properly; not for 6 months duration, how it was at the end. In the '70s, it were 18!

Yeah but they should just be trained as riflemen/grunts, these fucking ads now on TV "join the army and get your trade" lol who the fuck wants to sign up to be a fucking plumber or electrician working on shit the government put together, it's always going to be held together with duct tape and half assed repairs, giving you zero experience for the real world.

because you learn what NOT to do. so when you go out into the real world, you already know how to do it!
idk about there but, plumbers and electricians make top dollar here. carpenters are at the lesser of the pay scale, and we need to know more. much much more.

Indeed.

Would I promote the army life to my son? I honestly don't know.......it's a hard thing to decide on. My wife says no, because she has seen what it done to me when I came out......
I hear you on that bro. I joined in 2006 back when the army was still pretty much the army. Now with this countries leadership and the general population being fucking weirdo assholes without a single bit of pride in what this country represents…I wouldn’t... After my last deployment I didn’t even realize I was fucked, took my wife and my family to have me realize I was different 🤦🏻‍♂️

That's exactly how it went for me, my mother said you're not acting right......she wasn't wrong, I was on the edge of a cliff and didn't even realise.

Feels like you always had to be operating at 110% even for the most minimal tasks🤦🏻‍♂️ or just watching the world spin on past you while you just watch it go by. Shit was hard and probably the darkest point of my existence😂
