I believe you misinterpreted cobalt and lithium, cobalt is a metal with high melting point used in some industry while lithium is an essential alkaline metal for rechargeable batteries.
I don't think that cobalt is used in tesla car btw.

Nope, I trained as an industrial chemist/process engineer. I know the difference between lithium and cobalt. The cathode of a lithium-ion cell does contains cobalt, which offers high stability and energy density.
Tesla's list of their battery raw material suppliers...
