My Response: there have been trannies and men dressed as women costume, which aren’t the same fucking thing as much as you want it to be, they have been around and existed and represented for a long time and in multiple places. There isn’t alot of it but there isn’t alot of any piece of art or literature from the distant past. Also, the reason you are seeing more representation in the modern world is that the LBGT political movement. After a many decades struggle, to first remove all these sodomy laws and stop the vice squad raids and traps in bathrooms, then finally in 2014, achieving the last civil right they still didn’t have, to get a civil marriage to the person they choose. After that alot moved to help people with gender dysphoria feel accepted and not like sick freaks and so since the finally victory of equal civil rights for gays they are moving to transgender thats why.

1: gay marriage is legal now, i don't see any discrimination against gays in the civilized world, no one fucking cares, what you do behind walls.
But is not enough, now is the transgender movement, you see people with a mental disorder: gender disphoria every where, on the media, politics, military and in schools telling stories that is ok to change gender, reading books with sexual content. Ifyou don't know this, you should inform yourself.

Personally I love a scary clown and I find a lot of drag queens so damn sexy. I saw the rocky Horror many years ago and immediately found myself kinda aroused by Tim Curry in fishnets, I would love a night with Adore Delano in drag, same with Charity Kase, Courtney Act, Alaska Thunderfuck etc its also their bravado i like, they come across as pervy in a good way. But i know for a fact...people that do drag have clubs and groups where they can perform for each other.
