Dogs come from something that was like a dingo which came from wolves. They followed humans around eating their scraps. Eating a humans scraps which is cooked, over long period of time changed their features. They became less vicious because they weren't having to hunt and kill then fight to get a portion. They also started sleeping at night since they didn't have to hunt. Spending a longer time in the sun would have caused changes to their entire bodies. They quit howling and probably started using sounds to communicate with humans so they could get food.
And it is believed that women were probably the first people who started treating them as a pet.
Yea I don't know much about dogs. I'm more of a cat person.

There's no military service that takes you away from your home for 3 years. When you sign up for a tour it's 1 year and even then you get a couple of weeks off for personal time. And colleges aren't year round and you can have pets while in college. My roommate had a German shepherd that stayed in our apartment. Work doesn't keep you away that long either because you have PTO time. Prison is the only place where you aren't able to see your pets for a 3 year length of time.

Civil servants that work for the US Gov't (contractors) often get 3 year duty stations & most cannot have even their children or spouses w/them in those countries.

1/ You have confused 'domestication' with 'socialisation'. Domestication results in animals which are less intelligent and that have smaller brains.

2/ Slavery, if done with eugenics in mind, would result in unruly slaves being killed and thus their genes removed, whilst compliant ones would be left to breed, thus making good boys who done nuffin.

3/ Dogs were domesticated from wolves. It was not the scraps which did the domestication, it was the killing of the unruly ones, the aggressive ones which bit or misbehaved in other ways, ie were too nervous, or which did not want to pull a sled etc. What domestication is is the removal from the breeding stock of undesirable characteristics and the retention of desirable ones. Some animals cannot be domesticated, such as African elephants and zebra, or kangaroos. Chickens can, as can cattle and sheep. The list of domesticable animals is quite small.

Australia for example, never had any animals capable of domestication. The Africans had cattle, goats and sheep. Nothing in North America and only Lamas in South America.

Europe had the lot: pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, dogs, cats, etc.

Well then if he just got out of a coma after 3 years he would be in a wheel chair due to atrophy. He would have been home during his rehabilitation. Holy crap! I think you may have figured it all out. Scenario: he got a 3 year lease on an apartment but no pets allowed & it was 8k miles from his home so his folks kept the doggo. He never visited due to covid restrictions but with the sluggish economy, he moved back in with his parents. What a dickhead.

I think the guy just got out of gaol for some kind of sexual crime and is actually a transman.

The wonderful thing is that the dog was raised by this woman when it was a pup and despite the woman taking hormones and looking like a male now, doggo was able to smell her and thus recognized her for who she really was.

Fucking heart warming really...
