To be honest I really love the idea of doing yoga, it definitely is a very healthy practice. I just wouldn't know where to start, what would you recommend I do?I drink in moderation, zero to five drinks per week. Perhaps quarterly, I may have two beers with dinner, as with fish and chips, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches or barbeque. We also cook a few things with wine or beer monthly. I started practicing Yoga almost a decade ago for increased strength, flexibility and balance so as not to become a fall risk too soon as I age and for moderate pain relief of my hip conditions as well as my lower back trouble. I began with Restorative Yoga and Yin Yoga classes, which involve stretching and holding positions on the floor for one to three minutes while focusing on breathing so as to not overdo it and become injured. I do them three days per week without fail, an hour each class unless they are cancelled for some reason such as a holiday or illness. It works for me. Occasionally, I will take a more advanced heated class @ 85°-90°F to sweat profusely, get the blood flowing and detoxify, but I didn't try that until I had a year of the beginning classes under my belt. I don't bother with all the Sanskrit terms and astrology, as I have no interest in that. I have benefited from the classes though! Try it! You may like it, too! What have you got to lose apart from some clutter in your life and in your mind? I found it gave me a productive way to spend time in the evenings before supper that was not only good for me physically, but it also kept my mind off of drinking and going to those places that are not good for me. Cheers! 😂
What you are describing is loosely known as cross addiction. Where you can't tolerate a substance in your life for one reason or another- usually health related, then swap it out for one less "harmful" or different. While weed is definitely less harmful than alcohol, the core problem of why you need to alter your state instead of work on your self remains... just my 2c.![]()
I totally get what you're saying, but it's just a case of I like getting stoned to be honest at the end of a long week of working😅I can't help with recipes but my humble 2 cents...
Quitting alcohol and replacing it with weed (or any other drug) will only shift the addiction and won't help you dealing with the underlying issue that causes the addiction.
Find a local studio nearby online that has restorative classes at least once per week along with a Yin class or similar. Both are considered beginner classes. Call and talk with management or ownership there about beginning with one resto class. It should run about $20-$25 USD for the first hour. Just bring yourself in comfortable clothes, sweatpants or shorts and a t-shirt will be fine. They have all the gear you will need, a mat, blocks, blankets and bolsters, which are padded pillows to aid in getting you into those beginning positions. Show up fifteen minutes early to find a spot, set up the gear, and relax to prepare for the class. When the class begins, you will be told what to do. Do what you can, do not overdo it, and focus on your breathing. You will be led through each pose or position with a demonstration, and a description slowly, approximately three minutes per pose for roughly ten or so per class. All poses will be on the ground level for a restorative class. At the end you will be guided into a most comfortable relaxing position lying prone (Shavasana or Corpse PoseTo be honest I really love the idea of doing yoga, it definitely is a very healthy practice. I'm going to post a photo of myself & weigh ins once a month on this thread too so maybe itll contribute to my health improvement goals!
), that will close the practice nicely. You may be a little light headed in what is referred to as "Yoga Head", but it will pass shortly with drinking some water to replenish you. That's it! If you like it, they will have packages for multiple classes or even monthly rates for you, whichever is best for your budget. I do three to four classes per week at $65 per month so I kill them off that $25 per class rate! Think of it as a gym membership or subscription only with no judgement, gym rats, or muscle heads and just focus on yourself. Relax and enjoy the views if you are able. Let us know what happened, how you liked it and how you did! Namaste. 🧘♂️
That actually does sound pretty fucking decent to be fair! Just need to figure out where to find one for the best price. Maybe I'll try it at home first, I just wouldn't know the best poses for beginners and for how long and such, I'll have to do my research! Thankyou so much brother, your words mean more than you probably realize!!! I'm doing this and going to update this thread with before and after pics and weigh ins.Generic Male, I know the power to stop drinking is in you, and that you'll be successful in your quest.
I drank a liter of Scotch weekly, but quit cold-turkey after several disastrous blackout drinking sessions in close succession.
To make it easier for myself, I simply replaced Scotch with MJ, which is less dangerous than alcohol (but still bad).
I also lost 65 pounds in 5 months as part of the new me. I'm better mentally and physically now, and feel great.
MJ edibles are good at first, but quickly lose potency with continued use, at least for me.
At first 10mg would work wonders, but now even a 100mg bar really doesn't work its magic, so it's break time for me.
Now I need to work on my MJ problem, but it's far better than being a drunk, even a functioning drunk.
So my advice is to immediately stop drinking, exercise daily, and fill your mind with new pursuits as you become the man you've always wanted to be. If you get the urge to drink, try a small amount of MJ instead.
The urge to drink will pass, and you'll feel a better stronger man as a result.
Beware of the poisonous flies who'll try to bring you back down to your old drinking ways. They are not your friends.
Get on the weed diet and you’ll REALLY be a fat fuck eating snacks like crazyAlcohol is shit but I can't seem to stop drinking the stuff, some people like it and can enjoy it responsibly but I don't know when to stop.
Weight gain, decrease in fitness, wasting money, not sticking to plans and goals and making bad decisions are just some of the consequences of my alcohol abuse.
I've tried quitting before but I always seem to fall back into old habits, I drank last night so would this be day 1 of no drinking or day 0?🤣 I'm going to post an update here once a week. I'll do a weigh in too. Might even post before and after pictures when I lose the weight.
I'm thinking instead of drinking I'll just make weed edibles instead so I just picked up a fat ounce to last me the month.
Anybody know the easiest edibles I can make? Or any you'd recommend? I don't even want to smoke anymore, I want to improve my health.
Currently I'm a muscular but fat fuck who's 5 foot 8 and 19 stone😭
Any comments are appreciated, whether or not they are helpful or abusive doesn't matter to me 🤣
You don't need anything special to make edibles.Get yourself a Levo infusion machine. Looks like a coffee maker. Levo also sells gummy kits with instructions which are easy to follow. The basic process is grinding up your buds, decarbing them in the Levo, then adding coconut oil or some equivalent to the Levo chamber with the weed, then infusing the oil with your weed in the machine. After you have infused oil you add it to a pot on the stove and add Levo's gummy mix, heat, stir, and pour the resulting mixture into molds. Note that this will require a substantial amount of weed - like several ounces - to make potent gummies. There is always the option of just buying the gummies in the store if you have that available. Aside from startup costs though, you probably come out better making your own.

True, infusion can be done with a stove, but it takes a lot longer and puts a heavy strain on the stove. You don't need anything special to make edibles.

That's a good movie.I've always wanted to ask if you wrote Empire of The Sun?
Yes, not me, but the real JG Ballard wrote it. It was an autobiography of his youth spent in wartime China.I've always wanted to ask if you wrote Empire of The Sun?
