Yep. But what you also must realise is life is a constant steady apocalypse, in just 100 years every single man woman and child on this Earth right now will be dead (that's 8 billion people dead in just the next 100 years, all from nothing but the mere act of being alive right now). The zombie apocalypse
And at some point in the future everything on this planet will be dead, and the planet itself will be gone at some point too. Everything that has passed will be gone with no record of any of it happening. Makes you think that it's all an illusion.Yep. Well now you are at a breakthrough, philosophy and science are at a crossroads here. As Einstein once said, "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." In the realm of science fiction we find modern philosophical parallels that point us to this fact as well. "What is real?" Asks Morpheus to Neo, "How do you define 'real'? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain."And at some point in the future everything on this planet will be dead, and the planet itself will be gone at some point too. Kid friendly version of your take:Well now you are at a breakthrough, philosophy and science are at a crossroads here. In terms of basic survival, reality is something that exists just on Earth. The fact that you are surrounded by a very specific mixture of gases at a very specific temperature and pressure held down to the ball of rock (what we call Planet Earth) with its very specific gravitational force that doesn't exist anywhere else is the only reason you are alive right now. The sun doesn't rise. The Earth is merely rolling around it, what we see as a sunrise is merely the ball of rock we call Earth spinning under our feet, we are moving like crazy fast without even realizing.
I did an experiment once. It's called the reverse sunrise trick. You go to the beach and watch the sun set over the flat horizon of the calm waters. Then just as the sun dips below the horizon and vanishes from view you leap with all your might up into the air. And you know what happens? You see the very top of the sun rise over the horizon as if your jump had reversed the sunset. This only works if you time it exactly right and jump within the first 2-4 seconds of the sun vanishing from view.
For a more profound effect simply get on a plane and fly in the direction of the sunset and it will reverse and start going back up, because a plane can fly faster than the earth's rotation. This constant illusion, which is part of our reality as humans and infact all animals, is thus broken in the simple environment of an airplane. And what profound horrors this means, no night time, it doesn't exist, it's an illusion too! Ahhh! 🤣✌
