I adopted a new eating habit that I call "grazing". Instead of eating a few large meals a day, I eat a lot of little ones. I get hungry? I go and I eat an apple, that holds me for an hour or so, then I go eat something else small like that. After a while I began counting calories just out of curiosity to see how many calories I was taking in a normal day of grazing, and I found that the grazing left me satisfied throughout the day enough that sometimes I wouldn't even put down more than 1500 calories a day. I've not been exercising or denying myself the food I want, or anything. I still eat fast food quite frequently. Another change I have made is I have cut sodas entirely out of my diet except on rare occasions when I just really want one. I take water, unsweet tea, and unsweetened carbonated water with twists of different fruits in it as my drinks of choice. I've still got 30 something more pounds to go until I am at my target weight. But this is a lifestyle change, not a "diet until you lose weight" kind of thing.
