Coming from a tech, yes dude wtf 💀 you have something called return grills, any smoking of drugs or cooking meth or etc will be sucked in through a return duct and goes through your air handler and back into the supply ducts into your rooms. So if you were smoking weed yes the air conditioner would just spread the smell in every room with a supply register.

The filters work great for dust and pollen but not really for smell. The air quality is drastically better but it’s just hard to filter a “odor” especially smoke molecules.
