Not that the US has clean hands mind you but, when push comes to shove I'm more at ease with Nato. Russia under Putin does not even recognize Ukraine as a sovereign country. Much less Crimea and the Donbass. The bottom line is that Russia considers all of Ukraine part of Russia. And Eastern Europe as Russia's sphere of influence. So they will head that way militarily next.
