the books she's leaning on, esp DSM-5, Medical hallucinogens and The Ketamine Papers, indicate a problem with mental health and an unhealthy interest in drugs...
Do you not think it is part of the natural biological condition for humans to seek out an alternate state of mind? Even little children spin around & around until dizzy to alter their perception & things of that nature. 🤷‍♀️

I'd agree with you had she not died at 39 from a liver transplant due to drug abuse.

Context is all.

And I'm not a Polly Anna with the banner, I too have had my moments seeking an alternate state of mind...

But I have seen a close mate die whilst waiting on the liver transplant list too, due to alcohol abuse. And it's tragic. He was 58 and not 39...

Was it drug abuse though?
Maybe better for her to die at 39 and leave a beautiful corpse than stick dead people's parts in, which she seems to have rejected but sorry about your mate. I've known people who drank themselves dead by 35 and I think one was 40 or 42 & an ex's dad was on the transplant list for years but didn't get one. I don't think it was due to alcohol. I think he was in his 50s too. It sucks that death is a part of life.

Your liver can fail without any substance abuse at any age. You can die from complications to a liver transplant at any age without having had a substance abuse history.

I'm including alcohol in the drug category but for the liver to go by that age I'd have thought Hep C might be involved. That really speeds up liver break down and increases liver cancer rates. Hep C is the great big hidden epidemic we hear little about. I worked in drug rehabs and methadone programs for most of my career, with the odd break doing real social work in hospitals as you get jaded with drug users bull shit after a while, love 'em though I do... and 70% of users have Hep C. It's just so common.

Be fascinating to see Buffy's post mortem report or blood results pre liver transplant.

And yes, she clearly had a lot of problems, kind of like Amy Winehouse. (was that sirname a nom de gurre? So maybe better she faded out young. Hope she didn't have kids as they'd be fucked up too...

I saw so many kids of drug addicts who then became my methadone clients... really tragic and you feel you are doing no good at all... Thank fuck I'm retired!!

I include EtOH in the drug category as well because that's how it was taught to me too. Glad you're retired. I don't think she had children but I have yet to meet a heavy user who didn't have a kid that eventually had the same issues in their lifetime & many started even younger. That's scary with the zombie apocalypse drugs these days becoming more popular like Zylozine / Tranc. WTF? I just wonder if that's being done as a way to kill off the IV user set on purpose faster or what? Them's some scary users. 😟
