"Looks" good enough (awful saying).. if you're migging then ya looks alright
I did marine tig welding for quite a while.. and we would usually coat everything in acid after finishing and cooling it. Wash that off and depending on what the piece would be used for quite often then grind it down and Polish it so things became seamless. (Does need good penetrative though)
Change tip often, don't arc it lol and if you can do long single runs, or the back and forth diming over a good distance without breaking! That's always a plus.
I think you get it, you get it... always found welding was a bit like that, you and your instructor will know if you've got the nack for it quite quickly
You want some fancy auto goggles aswell 🤫
With tig we generally aimed for a fishscale appearance with very identical overlaps.. and that nice rainbow effect, pre finishing. . (Was mostly biminees. Ladders, rails.. all sorts of stainless work for yachts etc though)
Unfortunately i know sod about mig or stick really... so that's probably not too useful for you :/ but if ever!.
