"Looks" good enough (awful saying).. if you're migging then ya looks alright
I did marine tig welding for quite a while.. and we would usually coat everything in acid after finishing and cooling it. Wash that off and depending on what the piece would be used for quite often then grind it down and Polish it so things became seamless. (Does need good penetrative though)
Change tip often, don't arc it lol and if you can do long single runs, or the back and forth diming over a good distance without breaking! That's always a plus.

I think you get it, you get it... always found welding was a bit like that, you and your instructor will know if you've got the nack for it quite quickly :)
You want some fancy auto goggles aswell 🤫

With tig we generally aimed for a fishscale appearance with very identical overlaps.. and that nice rainbow effect, pre finishing. . (Was mostly biminees. Ladders, rails.. all sorts of stainless work for yachts etc though)

Unfortunately i know sod about mig or stick really... so that's probably not too useful for you :/ but if ever!.
Just wanted to look at your weld really lol

Learning mig welding, figured I'd throw this out here to see if anybody's got pointers or advice that helped them improve. First day in class, safety, second day instructor sets examples and walks us through setup, third day practice starting a puddle and walking it, and today was my first day applying all of that on my own. So, how am I doing?

Instructor says great, my reply was I've gotta be good at something, I'm too old not to be. I guess I'm looking for experienced welders to break me into what to expect as well here? I'm open to whatever. I enjoy this, it's fun, I'll end up sticking with it. Just want the advice to improve.

Awesome man. Now you have to do it standing on your head in the bowels of some big ship in 0 degree weather. Then you can get the big bucks.

Congrats! Glad school is going well for ya.

Show me your wife's tits unless you're a faggot
I don’t know your plans but i hear that Ingall’s shipyard in Pascagoula Ms has a great apprenticeship program. They pay for your school and pay like $15hr while in school. Bumps to $25-$30 hr when trained and certified.

Not a temp job. They have contracts into 2040 to build Navy ships. Great Union job and cheap cost of living. Only an hour drive to Pensacola. A little further to Destin where there are bikini clad women on the beach 365 days a year…make that 340 days a year. They go topless during the 3 weeks for spring break.
