I'm guessing the other side leads out to a bigger area for them. They may have an idea of when feeding time is, or maybe that's why he whistles; so they hear him and come over that way. I don't know.Making them live in that little bitty box it's kind of messed up

It's not so terrible considering they're ambush predators. Snakes, spiders, and things never really want to move around much except for the obvious. Danger, looking for a mate, taking a bite weekly drink of water, if they don't already get it from their food. They'll sit for weeks and weeks in one spot waiting for prey to happen across them in the wild.Well that sucks. 😕
