It must be pointed out though that the first "father" figure that Mike had was a crusty old white (does that appellation apply to Italians?) man named Cus D'Amato who he credited with having changed his life. Mike even went haywire and back to his old ways after Cus died.

All I know is that D'amato trained Mike Tyson from the age of 12 to 19 in the boxing arena.
Mike Tyson was an extremely problematic kid even at a young age. He was arrested 38 times by the age of 13. But Mike Tyson has an excellent boxing sense on a world level, despite the fact that we are only talking about an average-height but heavyweight man.

About Kennedy I too found his alleged shooter being killed before questioning to be awfully convenient. The speed with which things travelled after that with Lyndon Johnson being sworn in as an "interim president" and then going on to serve long were uncanny as well. But given the heated political climate at the time and passage of time I think we can only pass conjecture now.

As for boxing, I think Hagler has a good fight with Hearns. It's a entertaining bout much quicker paced that the heavyweight division. Tyson was certainly an outlier he brought the kind of speed that no boxer previous to him had in the heavyweight division. I think I see a bit of what Tyson did in the earlier Frazier (bob and weave). Tyson though was certainly far more powerful and his most entertaining bouts were a few seconds or minutes and the pre-fight stare downs is where most ended. I think though Tyson was inherently a gentle man. He took good care of his pigeons and in one story he was once violent first because someone killed his birb.(sry could not help it) It is incredible though that he came out of such a long career without serious neurological damage. Contrasted with the other boxers who are audibly punch drunk like the guy whose ear he bit off "real deal" Holyfield. Even the old crop Cassius Clays/ Ali and even Frazier never could maintain enough neurological function in old life. If you want to see another entertaining bout you have to see the "No Mas" fight. It has it's own lore and it's really cool to see the two boxers even today being alive and well. Boxing as are all contact sports is a cruel sport that relies on spectacle for public entertainment. It often comes at the cost of the performers. For this reason I think the old glory days of grand spectacles is disappearing. We may never see another Ali-Frazier or Tyson era. I can't stand to see the new MMA though , the athletes take too much of a beating and become mincemeat after a few years. Wrestling is kind of cool though and more ancient I really enjoy the historical wrestling cultures but many of them are either extinct or poorly recorded or changed due to modern competitive wrestling and it's rules.

Gun ownership though is something that I feel must continue in the US. Is it not a part of your history? Without any guns how would there be a militia or minutemen! The dangerous part is excessive laws concerning "accessories" and seemingly nonsense questions like "what constitutes a firearm" that are eroding gun rights. Background checks and safeguards are a good sentiment but in a country that has it as a constitutional right to bear arms, I think it would be akin to "sludge" or the bureaucratic red tape that would defeat exercise of these rights. Bad incidents commited by bad people should not deter or demoralise US citizens especially those patriotic and with a sens eof history to voluntarily disarm themselves. It would be like shooting oneself in the leg and this void would be taken over by less freer societies like China and Turkey which are already making strides in small arms especially. Civilian ownership is pardon me sine qua non to quality guns. Without being tested in the civilian population by ownership and trial no military can hope to have a martial culture. As they say "charity begins at home". Rest assured if the US loses it's guns it will no longer remain a superpower. Defence is too important to be left merely to the armed forces of a state.
