Those shorts are comfortable and help give you better performance when you're riding and the helmet protects against head injury. I understand that people are annoyed by pretentious faggots riding out in the middle of the road getting in the way but not all bicyclists are like that. It's a fun way to get around besides walking or a car and a good way to stay in shape.
