Ukraine seeks $1 billion a month for US weapons purchases, Zelensky says

Ukraine aims to secure at least $1 billion a month from its allies to purchase American-made weapons as it fights off Russia's ongoing invasion, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Aug. 25.

Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv alongside Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, Zelensky said Norway had joined NATO's Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program, which allows participating nations to buy weapons from the United States.

"Our goal is to fill this program with no less than $1 billion every month," Zelensky said. "We also discussed our domestic drone production and joint opportunities with partners. Investments now can help not only physically but also force Russia to end this war."

Zelensky added that more Ukrainian-made drones for air defense and long-range strikes would increase pressure on Moscow, as it continues to disregard calls for a ceasefire.

Ukraine's request comes as Kyiv seeks to anchor long-term U.S. security guarantees through a major arms procurement deal.

Zelensky said on Aug. 18, Ukraine had proposed buying $90 billion worth of U.S. weapons — financed largely by European partners — as the second pillar of its security framework, alongside building a strong domestic army and expanding drone production.

Financial Times earlier reported Kyiv had initially suggested a $100 billion figure before revising it to $90 billion. The proposal aims to tie U.S. support to a massive boost for American industry, framing it as an investment opportunity.

It's funny how modern governments make the support of industrial scale death sound like humanitarian aid with the consequences of not funding it equivalent to an apocolypse, as if the millions that will be dead as a result of the incessant war they fund (with our money) is not already an apocolypse in its own right.

When this war is over, two men, the leaders of the warring nations, will put ink to paper and shake hands, and smile. The map will be updated to reflect the details of the paperwork signed. The civilians will return and go back to work, regardless of which side they were on, and life will be normal again. And everyone will cheer that the apocalypse was averted, as millions rot outside under the dirt.

Russia is not slowing down and seems to have a lot of weapons left.
Russia is the second largest military power in the world, they were the ones who spent a very large percentage of their GDP on the army in the 1800s and they still do so today.
In contrast, the EU army is now ridiculous, specifically the EU leaders are now realizing that they should arm themselves because none of the EU countries have serious ammount of weapons, not even the rich EU countries too.
But filthy India, with a population of 1.3 billion, already has so many weapons that they are considered a serious military threat to Europe
And I think Zelensky has put all of Ukraine in debt for the next 100 years.

if russia is so powerful and such a superpower, why do they ask north korea for help

if russia is so powerful and such a superpower, why do they ask north korea for help
It is not certain that the Russians asked for it, it is possible that North Korea independently offered its military assistance for some business and some common communist-post-communist ideological reason
The Russians have 3 million professional soldiers, of which maybe 1 million may have already died (just like the Ukrainian side), so there are still two million professional soldiers still remain in Russian side. But if necessary, the Russians can still enlist up to 40-60 million people, which Ukraine will not be able to do because they have been struggling with a serious military shortage for a long time

Improve your comprehension skills before you reply to me next time. Because I don't know what the fuck you're on about based on what I said. I didn't say Russia would attack NATO, NATO did.
how did NATO attack russia you orc

ukraine is being backed by most of the western world and still by america via defense companies selling weapons to europoors, the russian population is also in a massive decline, same with china, japan, south korea and many other nations

I know that although in China it's not a problem if they lose weight because there are about 1.4 billion of them and they devour everything that moves, the rotten animals and spread all kinds of coronaviruses that will put half the world in the cemetery
Russia is allied with China and South Korea and has sold a lot of weapons to India, although the latter could still be a serious problem for all of Europe if the dirty gypsy India were too armed because there are so many of them and they are very modern and have a lot of weapons
I'll tell you the truth, I would be happier if the Russians won this war because then we would be better off economically in Europe because with the Western capitalists, that certainly wouldn't be the case
Although there are quite a few people in the Russian leadership who don't like me because they are still wallowing in "fascism" which didn't even affect them but the Russian Jews but they act as if it affected them and their Russian existence
The international Jews immediately take advantage of this, of course, that Eastern and Western, Russian and American they immediately secure themselves from the side and run wild freely as usual

china is more powerful than whatever nation you happen to be from unless you're american and china had been a great power for about a thousand years, and then the century of humiliation happened and back to rising power and then finally great power status, I think you mean north korea, not south korea, south korea is ROK, the north is the DPRK, India has no plans for attacking europe albeit they obviously for defensive measures have contingencies, can you give your reasoning why you think russia winning or at least being the party that gains the biggest chunk of the high ground if a peace deal is made, would make europe's economy better ?, and how would you define russia if you do not see them as fascist

"I didn't say Russia would attack NATO, NATO did"

You really fucking lack reading comprehension, don't you?

NATO encroachment and fearmongering over Russia was the point made.
NATO encroachment happened due to many former warsaw pact nations joining along with former soviet nations joining out of fear of russia, fearmongering over russia is very common in eastern europe, places like poland the baltics, where the USSR, which the Russian Federation is the main successor to occupied and attacked those nations, whilst also installing puppet states in them, annexing the baltics, and installing puppet states in even more nations such as Romania, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and even trying to make Josep Broz Tito have more stalinist policies, which didn't work out as Yugoslavia taught the USSR a lesson, simply by standing up to them, one of the best quotes, maybe the best in the 20th century, is the quote by Tito, stop sending people to kill me, we've already captured five of them, one of them with a bomb, and another with a rifle, if you don't stop sending killers, ill send one to moscow, and i wont have to send a second

What's your point? They're simply more obvious with their expansion.

In the US it's the corporations and private entities, not as obvious.

Is there supposed to be a good guy, is that what you're looking for?

Russian Imperialism is not justified by Western Imperialism, it is obvious that corporations in the US have great influence over state governments and the federal government, albeit many americans seem to think this is not the case, and many. if not most, are too uneducated about politics in the US, and no i am not looking for a good guy, the reason i do not support russia is because they did in fact start this war and i am against any aggressor, Ukraine did have plans to join NATO and they did become more pro western, but that does not give the greenlight to just invade and start a brutal war where both most likely by this point, a million ukrainians and a million russians have died
