On the morning of October 1, 2025, a man was electrocuted and fell into the Nan River near the bridge in Ban Dong, Phichai District, Uttaradit Province. The incident occurred while he was on a floating fish cage raft that had been swept away by the current from the Tha Mafueang subdistrict.
According to reports, the fish raft was being carried down the swift current of the river. As it passed under the bridge, the man on board attempted to use a rope to secure the raft to the bridge to stop its movement. However, as the raft continued to float past the bridge, it came into contact with a high-voltage power line spanning the river.
This resulted in the man being electrocuted in the head, causing a flash of fire to engulf his body. He then fell into the fast-flowing river and disappeared from the sight of witnesses.
The incident was filmed by Facebook user Jane Jakrapan J-Team Motor Sound Autocar, also known as Mr. Jakrapan Chantrathiprak, who is the Chairman of the Taluk Krathiam Subdistrict Administrative Organization Council in Phrom Phiram District, Phitsanulok Province.
He stated that he had been notified earlier in the morning by the Phichai Subdistrict authorities that a fish raft had broken loose and was heading down the Nan River towards his area. As he is responsible for disaster prevention and is also a rescue volunteer, he had gone to the bridge to wait and prepare to offer assistance, but the tragic event unfolded as the raft arrived.
Currently, authorities have successfully brought the fish raft to the riverbank, but the body of the victim has not yet been found. Rescue units and relevant officials are conducting an urgent search in the Nan River and are coordinating with other agencies to support the ongoing mission.
