Multiple people have been shot and several people have been killed after at least two gunmen opened fire on crowds at Bondi Beach.
The incident occurred about 6.40pm with loud bangs heard ringing out from near Campbell Parade, right at the heart of the famous tourist beach.
The two men in the brief video, who appear to be armed with rifles, fire at least 11 shots towards the beach. Bystanders can be heard screaming and shouting “Oh My God.”
Police in military gear swarmed the area and at least four ambulances are on the scene.
Locals have reported people running as shots rang out.
NSW Police urged people to stay away from the area due a “developing incident”.
“Anyone at the scene should take shelter,” a NSW Police statement read. “Police are on scene and more information will be provided when it comes to hand.”
NSW Opposition Leader and Vaucluse MP Kellie Sloane said “multiple people have died today” at the unfolding shooting in Bondi Beach.
Speaking to Sky News from the scene, Ms Sloane said the incident was “deeply shocking on the first night of Hanukkah,” and the alleged target of the attack was a group celebrating the Jewish holiday in a park by the beach.
“It was distraught. I went down to the scene to see if I could assist, and we were just putting bandages on people. We were trying to stem the bleeding,” Ms Sloane said.
“Please do not come here. There are a lot of concerned people. The ambulances are arriving as we’re speaking. There’s a helicopter in the air above us.”
