Body camera shows Officer James telling erratic driver (Udell) he smells weed and asking if she smoked. She denied it and blamed others. James opened the door and ordered her out. She refused, started her Chevy SUV and reversed.

April 22, 2025 – Bismarck PD bodycam and surveillance: Officer shot and killed Udell after she ignored exit commands, then struck another officer (James) with her SUV while fleeing.

James suffered upper- and lower-body injuries and serious knee damage. He is off patrol with recovery expected to take up to 1 year.

Anderson’s cam: James thrown over snowbank into fence. Anderson fires on SUV immediately.

Post-incident: Anderson placed on administrative leave pending BCI investigation. Department review cleared officers; Anderson returned to full duty.

What they care about is that the smell of cannabis strongly emanating from the interior of a motor vehicle might possibly portend that the driver might be driving under the influence, and in doing so is at high risk of killing herself or, unfortunately, others. I certainly don't give a shit about her and her choices, but only up to the point where she might take someone else out along the way. At that point, she's SOL.

I have been pulled over by officers while being armed and I have never had any issue (traffic stop).
If you act like a human being and you are legit all is well.

With that said, Americans do have the right to question any officer without trying to run him/her over or acting like an animal.

i've had cops pull me over and tell me to put the car in gear, another one told me to shut-off the engine, another one told me to turn my headlights on in the middle of the day (??), and i complied with all. Not really a problem if one is sure of themselves, is it.

Don't fight with the Police on the side of the road, because you will lose. US cops are trained for 100% complete control and compliance, so it's best to never short-circuit their tiny brains. Take it to Court and you'll lose there too, but you'll still be alive.
