bizarre Stuntman took a bad fall

Ouch dude

A stuntman suffered a major occupational accident while filming in Luzhu, Taoyuan, falling from a four-section platform. Due to a lack of effective safety measures on site, he suffered a severe head injury, intracranial hemorrhage, and fell into a coma. He was admitted to the intensive care unit for seven days, during which time doctors informed him that his condition was critical. Although he survived after emergency treatment, he is currently under observation and treatment in a general ward and will face a long road of rehabilitation, with his daily living functions affected.

I’m sure he will retain an acceptable degree of independence…

"Vomiting blood all night! "Tofu Mama" stunt double falls to his death and is critically ill; his fiancée heartbrokenly accuses the company*).

The highly anticipated FTV drama "Tofu Mama" suffered a serious injury to a stuntman during the filming of a scene depicting a fall from a building. Currently, the core of the dispute between the two sides, besides insurance and apologies, is the family's first revelation that the injured stuntman, surnamed Su, "vomited blood all night" on the night he was taken to the hospital, indicating that his injuries were far more severe than initially thought.

FTV responds

In response to this heartbreaking incident, Formosa Television (FTV) emphasized that on the day of filming, the set was reinforced with foam padding according to safety standards. However, the stuntman, upon landing, apparently experienced a significant "reaction force," causing his body to bounce off the protective foam padding, resulting in the accident and injuries to his face and body. Regarding the aftermath, FTV stated that it will accompany the actor throughout his treatment and promises to provide corresponding compensation for all medical expenses and lost income during the illness. Regarding the family's allegations of insurance and communication issues, FTV stressed that it will continue to communicate with the family, hoping to properly resolve the issue of liability.

Family members filed a lawsuit

The fiancée of the stuntman surnamed Su held a press conference on the afternoon of the 6th, accompanied by family members, to reveal the truth of the incident. The family expressed dissatisfaction with FTV's initial statement, which only vaguely described the injury as "facial injury." The fiancée revealed that although Su, with his strong background in Peking Opera, instinctively used his left hand to brace himself and reduce the impact on his head upon landing, the immense force of the impact caused severe bruising on his left hand, "looking like he was wearing a black glove." The fiancée stated that Su's condition was extremely critical on the day he was taken to the hospital; he even vomited blood all night, and examinations confirmed that the severe impact had caused a brain hemorrhage. They criticized the filming location for not having insurance for the actor, and for the lack of any high-level support after the accident. Only an assistant came with six apples to offer condolences, and to this day, they have not received a formal apology, let alone any guidance on how Su will cope with his long rehabilitation journey.

The road to rehabilitation is long, and the family does not rule out taking legal action.

Although Mr. Su is now able to get out of bed and is preparing for discharge, due to brain injury, he will still require constant assistance and monitoring to prevent any long-term effects. His family stated that it is a miracle Mr. Su survived; while his recovery is currently stable, the psychological and physical trauma is immense. The family also publicly addressed Formosa Television (FTV), stating that they reserve the right to pursue legal action, depending on the sincerity of FTV's subsequent compensation and apology, to determine whether to protect their rights through legal proceedings."

*)note: I took the liberty of inserting "the company" to replace "him", which suggested the fiancée of Mr. Su was accusing Mr. Su.
